How Battle.net Gifts Work at TopPlayer.gg

Updated October 1, 2026.

A Battle.net gift is a game or add-on that we send to your BattleTag through Battle.net's own gift system, so there is no code to redeem. You give us your BattleTag, accept our friend requests, wait for Battle.net's friendship period to pass, and then accept the gift in the Battle.net app.

What is a Battle.net gift, and how is it different from a key?

A gift is sent to your Battle.net account by a person on our side, while a key is a code you redeem yourself. Our gift product pages say it plainly: "no key is issued and none can be generated."

You can tell a gift apart by the "Battle.net Gift" badge and the "Gift" delivery label on the product page, and by the title, which ends in "Battle.net Gift".

What do I need before I buy?

You need your full BattleTag, written as Name#1234, plus an email address and a Battle.net account that can accept friend requests. The claim form asks for exactly those two details: BattleTag and email.

Your Call of Duty in-game name is an Activision ID, not a BattleTag, and it cannot receive a Battle.net gift. Find your BattleTag in the Battle.net desktop app (top-right corner) or at account.battle.net.

Battle.net gifts are not region-locked: they work for Battle.net accounts in the Americas, Europe and almost every other country. Only a handful of countries can't receive Battle.net gifts, so if you are not sure about yours, ask support before you buy.

How long does a Battle.net gift take to arrive?

Expect up to 96 hours. Battle.net only allows a gift to be sent to a BattleTag friend after a waiting period: Blizzard states that you must have been friends for at least three days (Blizzard: How to Gift Blizzard Products). Our product pages call this "a mandatory platform rule, not a stock delay."

The clock starts when you accept our friend request, not when you pay. So accept quickly. You will get an email when the gift is delivered, and your account shows an estimated delivery countdown.

What are the steps from payment to playing?

  1. Pay for the gift on the product page.
  2. Open the gift claim page from the link we email you and enter your BattleTag (Name#1234) and email.
  3. Accept the friend requests on Battle.net. They come from our accounts whose names start with TP; accept all of them.
  4. Wait for the friendship period to pass (up to 96 hours in total).
  5. Accept the gift from the notification in your Battle.net app, then install the game.

Do not message us in-game or through Battle.net, and never share your password: our accounts will never ask for it or for any payment. If you need help, use support.

How do I accept the gift in Battle.net?

Accept it from the notification in your Battle.net app, or sign in at account.battle.net/gifts (My Gifts). Blizzard says a gifted friend can claim the gift on the Battle.net app or through "My Gifts" (Blizzard). The game is then added to your library. Once the gift has been delivered, you can remove our accounts from your friends list, as the delivery email asks.

What if I typed my BattleTag wrong?

Use the edit link in your confirmation email, or the "Edit" button on your gift in your account. You can change it until the gift is delivered; the email link stays valid for 30 days after your claim.

What happens if something goes wrong?

Open a ticket from the order in your account, or write to support with your order number.

  • Before the gift is sent (during the friendship wait), you can ask for a full refund by opening a ticket.
  • If we can't deliver your gift, you get a full refund. Open a ticket so we can process it.
  • Once the gift has been sent to your Battle.net account, it can't be refunded, because it can no longer be taken back.

For keys and everything else, see our refund policy.

FAQ

Is a Battle.net gift the same as a game key?

No. No key is issued. The game is sent to your BattleTag and you accept it in the Battle.net app.

Why does it take up to 96 hours?

Battle.net requires a friendship period before a gift can be sent, and the clock starts when you accept our friend request.

Can I use an email address instead of a BattleTag?

No. Our gift flow works through your BattleTag. The claim form asks for both your BattleTag and your email.

Do Battle.net gifts work in my country?

Almost certainly. Battle.net gifts work in the Americas, Europe and nearly every other country; only a handful of countries can’t receive them. Ask support if you are unsure.

Can I pre-order a game as a Battle.net gift?

Yes. The gift is sent 72 to 96 hours after you accept our friend request, even before launch. You can play from launch day and you get all the pre-purchase benefits.

Can I get a refund on a gift?

Yes, before the gift is sent: open a ticket. If we can’t deliver it, you get a full refund. Once the gift is in your Battle.net account, it can’t be refunded.

Do I need to contact you when the gift is sent?

No. You get an email when it is delivered. Please do not write to us in-game or on Battle.net.

Where can I read the refund rules?

On the refund policy page. The FAQ has short answers too.
